Brief: Research over the past 10 years shows that businesses that invest in well planned work-place wellness programs see a positive return not only in immediate bottom line costs but also in employee engagement which positively affects the culture, and ultimately the profits, of any business large or small.
“Wellness programs, in general, and fitness programs in particular may be the only employee benefits which pay money back. When more people come to work, you don't need to pay overtime or for temporary help; when people stay at the job longer, training costs go down.”

In the Economic Burden of Illness in Canada, Health Canada reports that the total direct cost of illness in 1993 was $44 billion out of an overall cost for health care in Canada of $70 billion. Moreover, the indirect costs such as time lost due to long-term and short-term disabilities, and the present value of future productivity lost due to premature mortality and illness in Canada represents an estimated economic value of $129 billion (nearly 21% of the GDP). Reducing the number of inactive Canadians by a further 10% would result in an additional saving of $5 billion.

Here's something to think about: According to the Public Health Agency of Canada's report, The Business Case for Active Living at Work, as much as one half of the decline in physical function between the ages of 30 and 70 can be attributed not to aging itself, but rather to a sedentary lifestyle.
The “Fit to Work” seminar series was developed to help employers promote fitness within the workplace by bringing a new reality to the table: being healthy enough to work is our personal responsibility.
Unfortunately, many employees maintain an entitlement mentality that does not serve them and does little for the morale within the workplace.
So how do we change a culture within a group that seems reluctant to change? Have them take it home!
We show that an improvement in an individual's physical health not only benefits them at work, but also has a dramatic and positive impact in their personal life as well.
Each participant will receive a workbook with a summary of all the valuable information listed above and a new understanding of the responsibility each of us has for our physical health. This is definitely one seminar your staff won't soon forget!
